Now almost all free Windows software comes with some add-ons that are basically a cash cow for the product vendor. In most cases, browser add-ons are installed (toolbars - toolbar). Some of these tools have claims to be useful, but they are usually used to analyze user behavior and preferences and transmit this data.
Many of these tools annoy the user:
- Tracking data is sent to some backend servers.
- Annoying advertisements are displayed.
- Possible manipulation of search results.
- The start page of browsers is changed.
- Multiple toolbars require a lot of space inside the browser.
- Users mostly don't know how to get rid of these toolbars.
- Some of these tools do not allow the user to delete them.
The difference between the "Delete" and "Disable" buttons? Avast! Browser Cleanup allows you to remove known annoying toolbars. "Delete" means to remove the toolbar and all its components completely from your computer. This action cannot be undone.
However, sometimes removing an add-on is not always desirable, especially if you are sure that you are really behind this add-on. For this reason Avast! Browser Cleanup also offers a "Disable" button. This simply disables the functionality of the add-ons. The add-ons themselves are saved on disk. This action can be canceled by clicking the "Enable" button. You probably need to restart your Internet browser, however.
Avast! Browser Cleanup serves to delete pesky and unwanted toolbars and plug-ins from your browser(s). Simply download and run the Browser Cleanup utility without the need to install anything. Once you run the utility, you will see a list of toolbars and plug-ins and be able to disable them with one simple click.
