7-Zip compresses files using the LZMA algorithm, which is much more advanced than the WinRAR archiver algorithm. First of all, this archiver is valuable with its own 7z format. It is believed that this format has the highest compression ratio and is excellent for archiving large amounts of information (for example, especially large programs or games). The following formats are also supported: ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, LZH, CHM, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB. It is worth paying attention to the frequent situations in which the compression ratio of ZIP and GZIP formats in this program is an order of magnitude higher than that of competitors.
7-Zip is completely free, and since this is an infrequent phenomenon among programs of this kind, this fact is another good argument in its favor.
