Universal Restore
What should I do when the computer hardware fails or needs to be replaced entirely? How do I move important applications and data to a new machine or hardware configuration after an accident? How to quickly restore the system after changing equipment?
To solve these problems, Acronis offers an integrated Acronis® module Backup & Recovery™ 11 Universal Restore™, which restores servers and workstations to equipment other than the one from which backups were taken, or to virtual machines, providing extremely flexible disaster recovery and migration capabilities.
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Universal Restore allows you to get out of unforeseen situations with honor without maintaining a fleet of backup machines identical in configuration to the main computers.
First of all, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 creates a reference image that does not depend on the hardware configuration of the source machine. The Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Universal Restore module loads drivers of new hardware so that the system from the image can start on another hardware platform with all applications, data and user settings saved. Recovery can be performed to the original computer, a new computer with a different hardware configuration, or to a virtual machine. The procedure takes literally a few minutes and is performed as follows:
[li]Boot the backup computer from the Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 bootable media and select the "Restore" command from the menu.
[li]Select the image to restore.
[li]Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Universal Restore will start the recovery process, determine the hardware configuration and install the necessary Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) drivers.
[li]At the end of the recovery, you get an exact copy of the original system on the new hardware platform.
Main functions
[li]Recovery — fast recovery of a failed computer to a machine with a different hardware configuration or to a virtual machine.
[li]Migration is the transfer of systems according to the scheme "physical-virtual", "virtual-physical", "physical-physical" or "virtual-virtual" for the purpose of recovery, testing, etc.
[li]Modernization – installation of new hardware drivers and replacement of the HAL level to boot the computer after changing the motherboard or hard disk controller, or to boot from the old disk on a new machine.
[li]Cloning and deployment — cloning and deployment of operating systems regardless of hardware.
Treatment procedure:
During the installation of the program, select "Enter license" and copy the serial numbers.
